Yup.
Method 1 is a solution that is faster, but only works on some browsers

Thought so. I'd just stick to #2 for compatability.

Yeah. I use #1 on my test forum because I'm only ever using firefox (which a decent portion of people are)
Method #2 would be recommended for most other browsers however
